URBAN MINING

The Urban Mining series transfers principles of circular construction to art. The starting point is materials that were already part of a building, now reassembled and brought into a creative dialogue.

Signs of wear, patina, and texture tell the story of the material's past, while new painted wooden elements or laminates create fresh contrasts. This creates a visual language that emphasizes the value of what already exists and aesthetically enhances the idea of reuse.

Urban mining shows how art can provide impetus for architecture and building culture, as a plea for resource conservation, beauty in change, and a future in which material history remains part of a new design.
