ICONIC

With a nod to the concept of the “iconic,” ICONIC elevates everyday, used materials to protagonists. What would otherwise remain in the shadows is lifted onto a pedestal and presented in a new, almost ceremonial way. The contrast to iconic architecture is deliberately chosen: while many new buildings are criticized for their formal emptiness, these seemingly inconspicuous materials reveal an unexpected depth. Traces of history, use, and change. ICONIC thus becomes a tribute to the potential of the existing and raises the question of what we really want to understand as “iconic.”
